Once there was a lamb who did not run when the storm came. The other sheep did. The lamb’s knees knocked, but he stayed in the grass because the Shepherd had said, “I will be right back.”
The dark got loud. The wind got rude. A shadow tried on a wolf’s voice. The lamb said, very small, “He told me to wait.”
Then the real voice came, and it was not the wind. The Shepherd picked him up. “I said I would be right back,” He laughed. “I always am.”
Tell it until they can tell it back. That is how a child learns that fear is not the boss.
