Why the old stones still matter

You can preach in a warehouse. The apostles did worse. Stone is not salvation.

And yet: a nave that makes you look up is a kind of argument. It says the world is not a ceiling. Someone spent centuries on a building because they thought God was not a hobby.

Read the history. The same church that carved light into glass also failed, often, loudly. That is not a reason to pretend the stones mean nothing. It is a reason to remember what they were aiming at.
