You know the night. You failed. You went dry. Sleep would not come. Then the question sat on the bed with you.
Did I lose it? Is God done with me?
Somebody once handed you Once Saved Always Saved like a slogan. It sounded cheap. Then you opened Hebrews and the floor dropped. Forget the slogan. Listen to Jesus.
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.John 10:28
He did not say they shall rarely perish if they behave. He said never. Eternal life is a gift He gives, not a wage you keep earning. You came to Him. Hear the next line.
All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.John 6:37
In no wise. Not on a good week. Not until your next failure. The Father’s will is that He should lose nothing (John 6:39). If a slogan fights those words, keep what Jesus said.
You are not a project He might abandon. You are a new creature.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.2 Corinthians 5:17
Paul wrote of spirit and soul and body (1 Thessalonians 5:23). The spirit is born again complete. You cannot be unborn. Your soul still needs renewing. Your body still needs keeping under. That is not the new birth dying. That is a child of God learning to walk.
And you were sealed.
And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.Ephesians 4:30
You can grieve Him. Grieving is not unsealing. He sealed you unto the day, not until Tuesday.
So why did Hebrews scare you?
Because it is meant to. Hebrews was written to people tempted to leave Christ and go back to animal blood. Chapter 6 says if they fall away, it is impossible to renew them again unto repentance. Read that slowly. If that meant a born again child of God losing salvation, the same verse would shut the door on getting it back. That reading does not fit the text. And two verses later He says,
But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.Hebrews 6:9
The same book still says,
For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.Hebrews 10:14
Peter talks about a washed sow going back to the mire (2 Peter 2:22). A sheep is not a pig that got a bath. Knowledge is not the new birth. John said if any man sin, we have an advocate (1 John 2:1). That is a child, not a stranger.
Do not flatten it. Sin matters. Grieve not the Spirit. Faith without works is dead (James 2:17). James does not cancel John 10. A living faith acts. You were bought with a price. Walk like it.
When the night comes back, do not hunt your feelings. Speak what He said. They shall never perish. I will in no wise cast out. Act on the Word. Rest in what Jesus already finished. You are not keeping yourself saved. You are agreeing with what God has already said.
You came. He will not cast you out. Stand.
